September 2006, IBBI Sponsored Supplier, Barbour Plastics, Inc. has
announced that it has chosen Atlanta, Georgia as the location for its
new southeast manufacturing facility, adding 60,000 square feet of
warehouse and manufacturing space. After an extensive nine month
search which encompassed several southeast states, Atlanta was chosen
for several key reasons according to Company President and CEO,
Richard Hynes: “Barbour Plastics is the leading supplier of extruded
moldings and other components for the Marine Industry which now is
largely located in the southeast. This location will allow us to
get closer to our customers to better serve them, as well as adding
much needed space to our growing operations. We chose Atlanta for the
plentiful labor pool, the projected lower operating costs, as well as
the many benefits to businesses available in Georgia. Atlanta
also is a perfect logistical center for distribution of our products
throughout the U.S.”. Barbour’s new facility will be located in
Fulton County, west of downtown Atlanta, making possible a rapid
startup. Distribution is set to begin in October, and
manufacturing startup is planned for late November.
